Georgia

A little about Georgia. Georgia is bordered by the Black Sea to the west, by Turkey and Armenia to the south, Azerbaijan in the east, and Russia to the north. Georgia is a representative democratic semi-presidential republic, with the President as the head of state, and the Prime Minister as the head of government.
Georgia is situated in the South Caucasus, the highest mountain in Georgia is Mount Shkhara at 5,068 meters. Prominent features of the area include the Javakheti Volcanic Plateau, lakes including Tabatskuri and Paravani, as well as mineral water and hot springs. The two major rivers in Georgia are the Rioni and the Mtkvari.
The Landscape of Georgia is quite varied. The western landscape ranges from low-land marsh forests, swamps, and temperate rain forests to eternal snows and glaciers. The eastern part of the country even contains a small segment of semi-arid plains. Forests cover around 40% of Georgia's territory.
The nation is small, but the climate is extremely diverse. There are two main climatic zones, roughly separating the eastern and western parts of the country. The Caucasus Mountain Range is an important part in moderating Georgia's climate and protects the nation from the penetration of colder air masses from the north.
